Jim Kozal of Scottsbluff was the winner Friday of a hand crafted ukulele that was given away in a drawing to raise money for the Haiti relief effort. Pastor Dale Brown of Salem Congregational Church made the musical instrument that he decided to use for purposes other than his own.

Over $2,500 was raised by people who either purchased tickets or donated to the cause. The money will be given to "Samaritans Purse", a Christian organization working in Haiti. Kozal's name was drawn during KNEB's Friday morning "News Extra" segment, and Pastor Brown and Platte Valley Companies Marketing Director Jacque Neu indicated Kozal's son Joe plays a ukulele and will be thrilled the family won the instrument.

Platte Valley Companies, along with Eric Vath Clothier, and Salem Congregational Church members sold the tickets. Print Express printed the tickets for free and KNEB and the Star Herald assisted in promoting the effort.
