May 15th Day of arrival into Budapest will start off with a 1/2 day city tour escorted by a local guide. This tour features elegant Andrassy Avenue, the Thermal baths and the world's second-largest Jewish Synagogue. Then you will visit the 13th century Mattias Coronation Church and Heroes' Square. We will check into the hotel for 1 night. The remainder of the evening will be at your leisure.
May 16th Following breakfast you will embark on a tour that includes the Royal Palace and a visit to the fantastic Vajdahunyad Castle. After the tour we will take a beautiful drive to Vienna, Austria. We'll check into the hotel and have the rest of the evening at leisure. We stay here 2 nights.
May 17th Today we will be met by a local guide to take us to see the sights including: Pater Park, the Hofburg Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral.
May 18th Following breakfast we will make the journey through the lovely Austrian countryside to one of the most fascinating and charming cities in the world...Salzburg, Home of Mozart and the Sound of Music. After checking into the hotel, you will have all afternoon to see the sights. We will stay here 3 nights.
May 19th Today we will be joined by a local guide who will give us the famous Sound of Music Tour that includes Mirabell Gardens and the church where Maria was married. After the tour, we recommend that you take the funicular to the great fortress on top of the hill overlooking Salzburg. Don't miss Getriedestrasse, the main shopping street and the birthplace of Mozart.
May 20th After breakfast this morning, we will board our motorcoach for the short drive to Berchtesgaden. Here we will visit Hitler's Eagle's Nest and go on a very interesting visit to a working salt mine. Then we head back to Salzburg for an optional group dinner and more time to explore the city.
May 21st We leave early morning to drive to Oberammergau today for the once in a lifetime opportunity to see the original Passion Play, which has been presented every 10 years since 1634. The Play begins in the afternoon and is approximately 7 hours. Included is a dinner served during the 3 hour intermission. After the play we leave for the the little town of Ette, and enjoy 1 night stay at the stunning Ludwig der Bayer Hotel.
May 22nd This morning we enjoy a leisurely breakfast before boarding the bus to Munich. Upon arrival we are met by a local guide for a tour of Nymphenburg Palace, the summer home of the royal Wittelsbach family. We also see the Treasury of the royal family at their home palace in the heart of Munich. We stay in Munich two nights.
May 23rd After a hearty breakfast, you have the entire day to see the best of Munich. Our hotel is in the center of town, just minutes away from the famous Glockenspiel at the Old Rathaus. You can also visit the Viktualien Market with its many shops. Tonight we are treated to a traditional Bavarian Show of music and dancing at the most famous beer hall in the world, the Hofbrauhaus.
May 24th You depart for a flight back to the United States.
