Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says funding has been released for 25 additional water quality projects in 16 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. USDA is providing 102-million dollars in Recovery Act funding and other Water and Environmental Program funding for water and wastewater infrastructure projects to protect the environment and improve the health of rural families.

In making the announcement - the Secretary said the Recovery Act investments in water and wastewater infrastructure are helping deliver safe drinking water to rural residents and protecting the environment. He added the projects advance the Obama Administration's effort to rebuild the nation's infrastructure - and are putting Americans to work across the country.

Of the funds - 22-million will be in the form of loans and grants for a new groundwater source, pipeline network and groundwater treatment facility in Atchison County in northwest Missouri. Also - the town of Sudlersville in Queen Anne's County, Maryland was selected to receive 6.9-million to construct a new wastewater treatment plant and storage tank and make water system improvements.
