The 2009-2010 National FFA officer team was elected at the 82nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this past week.
Levy Randolph of California will serve as President. Randolph is majoring in ag business at Fresno State University. The National FFA Secretary is Bethany Bohnenblust (bon-en-blust) of Kansas - a double major in ag communications and ag economics at Kansas State University. Randolph and Bohnenblust are two of six individuals selected from a field of 39 to hold a national office.
During their year of service - they will travel more than 100-thousand miles, meet top business, government and education leaders, visit approximately 40 states and participate in an international experience tour to Japan.
The national FFA officer selection process is intense and represents an assessment of years of academic and extracurricular accomplishments made by each student running for office. Those who qualify participate in five rounds of interviews at the convention, take an in-depth written test on the organization and agricultural education topics and complete two writing exercises. A panel of nine state FFA officers make up the nominating committee that proposes the slate of six officers for convention delegates to approve.
Those elected to serve as Regional Vice Presidents are Alexandria Henry of Michigan - Eastern; Chase Rose of Montana - Central; Chelsea Doss of Tennessee - Southern; and Randa Braune of Texas - Western.
