Some Cattle Stranded in NE Wyo.
Published Friday, March 27, 2009 at 09:01 AM
GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) Campbell County ranchers haven't been able to get to their cattle in pastures because of snowdrifts as high as 6 feet left behind from the blizzard earlier this week. But some ranchers estimate that the losses from the storm won't be big. Most local ranchers have witnessed storms much worse than the one that swept through Gillette on Monday. The decision to lamb or calf later can help ranchers decrease their losses in spring storms, but ranchers then will have to sacrifice profit because the livestock won't be as heavy.
