(HOLDREGE, Neb.) -- The Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District's board of directors officially seated re-elected members and chose officers at Thursday's monthly meeting.

William Knoerzer of Elwood was re-elected to a second term as board president, and Robert Petersen of North Platte was voted to a second term as vice president. Roger Olson of Holdrege was chosen to continue as treasurer, and Dudley Nelson of Axtell was elected secretary.

The directors will serve as officers for two-year terms.

In addition to Olson, Nelson and Petersen, directors who were officially seated after winning election last November were Neal Hoff of Hastings and Doyle Lavene of Bertrand.

In other action at the board meeting:

• The board accepted a bid of $109,210 from Van Diest Supply Co., of McCook to supply weed-control chemicals to the Irrigation Division.

• The board accepted a bid of $108,500 from Snitily Carr of Lincoln, subject to contract preparation and legal review, to produce a video for the District summarizing the benefits of surface water and Central's hydro-irrigation project to the State of Nebraska.

• Kevin Boyd, Gothenburg Division manager, reported that Central is close to obtaining a 404 permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that is required before work can begin on a project to improve water circulation at Lake Ogallala. The project has been delayed as Central works with the Corps to resolve wetlands mitigation issues.

• Civil engineer Cory Steinke reported that Lake McConaughy is 8.5 feet higher in elevation and contains 150,700 acre-feet more than it did at this time last year, but inflows to the lake continue to lag well behind historic levels.

While inflows for the current water year, which started Oct. 1, are about 15,000 acre-feet ahead of last year, Steinke said recent inflows have been about 60 percent of normal for this time of year.

"With last year's fairly wet conditions upstream from the lake, I expected that we might see a better increase in inflows," he said. "That hasn't been the case. We continue to see inflows that are well below what would be normal for this time of year."

• The board was informed that the annual Holdrege Water Conference is scheduled for Jan. 29 at the Phelps County Ag Center. The conference, which begins at 10 a.m., is sponsored by Central, Tri-Basin Natural Resources District, Phelps-Gosper Extension, and the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce.

• The board approved a one-year lease with Dave Malcom of Eustis for property used as an airfield near Johnson Lake.

• The directors changed the date of next month's committee meeting to Feb. 23.
