Smith, Johanns disappointed with EPA ruling on ethanol
Published Tuesday, December 01, 2009 at 06:42 PM

Third District Congressman Adrian Smith and Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns Tuesday expressed disappointment with the EPA's announcement that it will delay making a decision on increasing the amount of ethanol to be blended with gasoline.

The EPA has taken public comments and been conducting tests on raising the limit from E10 to E15 since April, but is delaying its own December 1st deadline to make a decision.

Johanns says the delay calls into question the administration's commitment to the nation's renewable fuels industry. Smith says it also gives consumers less choice at the pump.

Johanns says delaying the approval of E15 will hinder the President's stated goal of increasing the country's biofuel supply.
