
Esther Vogel Reifschneider, age 90 of Bayard, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, February 6th, at Faith United Church of Christ in Bayard with Pastor Tom Smith and Reverend Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Interment will be held at Bayard Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-6:00PM, Friday, February 5th, at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Esther was born on December 4, 1919, in Scottsbluff to Katherine and Henry Vogel and attended school in Scottsbluff. On December 31, 1939, Esther married Jake Reifschneider in Bayard. The couple lived and farmed in the Bayard area with the exception of residing in Omaha during World War II. After retiring from farming in 1975, Esther and Jake traveled through many areas of the United States spending their winters in Arizona. She was an active member of the Ladies Guild and taught Bible School at the Faith United Church of Christ. Her hobbies included quilting and cross stitching, many of these items made for family and friends. She made many butterballs and noodles at the church. She is survived by her husband Jake; daughters Bonnie (Jim) Edins of Mead, Neb., Debora (Steve) Dunnivant of Richland, Wash.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her son Tom, daughter Susan, two sisters and six brothers preceded her in death.
