CSC Rangeland Ag Center gets major loan

Chadron State College's planned Rangeland Agriculture Center and Pavilion became one step closer to reality Monday when the college received a one million dollar loan.

The Panhandle Rural Electric Membership Association based in Alliance received the money from USDA Rural Development, and in turn will loan the money to the college. PREMA assisted Box Butte General Hospital five years ago with the same type of financial arrangement when the hospital built its medical arts plaza.

Nebraska USDA Rural Development Director Maxine Moul says the one million dollar loan awarded to PREMA to assist Chadron State College is the largest ever funded in Nebraska through the Rural Economic Development Loan Program. Moul says the loan will allow the college to begin construction of new Rangeland Agriculture Center in about 30 days.

The new Rangeland Agriculture Center will be located on the southeast corner of the Chadron State Campus.

Moul says the loan fund will help businesses purchase real estate, equipment, provide working capital or training, and more.
