
The Alliance Public Schools will have a new superintendent beginning July 1 Monday night, the board of education approved the hiring of Dr. Dan Hoesing (Hay-sing) of Laurel, Nebraska.
Dr. Hoesing has served as the Superintendent of the Laurel-Concord Public Schools since 1995. Hoesing also is a Shared Superintendent with the Coleridge, Newcastle, and Wynot Schools located in northeast Nebraska, and has done so for the past two years.
Dr. Hoesing began his career in education as a teacher and coach with the Elkhorn Valley Schools in Tilden, Nebraska in 1980, where he worked for eight years. Dr. Hoesing then served as Principal of the Coleridge Community Schools in Coleridge, Nebraska from 1988 to 1994. He was also Superintendent of the Ansley (NE) Public Schools for one year before accepting the position of superintendent of Laurel-Concord in 1995.
Dr. Hoesing will replace John McLane, who has served as the APS Superintendent on an interim basis the past two years.
Also Monday night, the board hired a new Assistant Principal for Alliance High School. Michaele “Micki” Carlson, who currently teaches English and is an English Dept. Chair at Sioux City West High School in Sioux City, Iowa, will begin her new job. Carlson will replace Skip Olds, who will retire at theNebraska end of the current school year.
