Published Friday, September 11, 2009 at 05:41 PM
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says approximately a third of a load of 1600 piglets died Friday when a tractor-trailer rolled onto its side after the drive missed a curve east of LaGrange near the Wyoming Nebraska border The patrol says the piglets, weighing four to five pounds each, were being taken from an Albin, Wyoming farm to an unknown location when the accident occurred around 9 a.m. Friday morning. The unidentified driver, from Minnesota, and employed by J & H Express, escaped injury, but was cited for speeding.

The Patrol says the semi was eastbound on Wyoming Highway 151 when the driver failed to negotiate the curve approximately 100 yards from the two states border The driver left the road, overcorrected and put the trailer on its side as the vehicle came to a stop. The piglets were all contained in the trailer. The Patrol says there was damage to a state right-of-way fence and extensive damage to the trailer.
