Governor Dave Heineman says he experiences the frustration other local officials are feeling with the announcement Wednesday that some of the road projects meant to stimulate the economy, many of them local, won't start until next year. New certification requirements by the feds and the state's falling behind on fulfilling oversight criteria for city and county roads are to blame. Heineman is hoping everything can be ironed out so things begin moving soon.
Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says resurfacing and widening of Avenue B between the Beltline and West Overland, slated for construction now, will likely be delayed into the fall or next spring.
Land acquisition has also pushed back the timeline for doing the 14th Avenue spur running from Target up to College Drive near Aurora Loan Services, and that project likely won't begin until late summer, this fall or next spring.
