Last defendants in Fort Rob burglaries sentenced
Published Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11:47 AM

20-year old Jeremy Osmotherly of Chadron was given an 8-month county jail term and released on a combination of time served and good time while 18-year old Zeke Pinter of Crawford was given a pair of 6 month jail terms to be served concurrent with 20-to-36 months in prison.
Osmotherly benefitted from a criminal record with no serious crimes, was attending alcohol rehabilitation, had a full time job lined up when he got out of jail and hoped to be able to rejoin the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department.
But even defense attorney Russ Harford said Zeke Pinter's criminal record over the past 9 years...which included several probation violations...showed he was not a candidate for probation.
Judge Silverman described Pinter as having a "terrible record" before handing down the 20-to-36-month prison sentence.
The third adult defendant in the Fort Robinson break-in...18-year old James Perkins of Crawford...was given 3 years of probation last month after pleading guilty to the same burglary and evidence tampering charges as Osmotherly. Perkins lacked any previous criminal record.
The fourth defendant was a 17-year old male whose case was transferred to juvenile court.
The mid-November burglary saw a variety of items taken including tools, car products, a log chain, and 40 gallons of gasoline. Several were thrown into the park's Grebel Pond after the group learned of a police investigation.
