Some anxious moments for local fire and rescue personnel early this afternoon.
Alliance Rescue Squad members were asked to assist the Hyannis Fire Dept. in locating a downed airplane south of Bingham. However, about 10 minutes after the call came in to the Alliance Fire Dept., the local dispatcher reported personnel from the Ogallala fire department had found the airplane. The pilot was reported to be outside the airplane walking in a field.
Alliance Firefighters then returned to the fire hall as their services were not needed. Personnel from the Airlink medical helicopter in Scottsbluff had also been alerted of the downed plane.
Details as to what may have caused the plane to go down, or if there was any damage to the craft is not yet available.
