SB Jaycees still need help funding fireworks show
Published Friday, July 03, 2009 at 01:28 PM

For 27 years, Tracy Ford has been doing the annual Scottsbluff Jaycees Fireworks show and he along with about a dozen other volunteers will do it again Saturday evening at W.N.C.C. The 25 minute show will begin around 9:20 p.m. 400 shells in the main show about 1,000 in the grand finale. Ford says they've come a long way from hand lighting every shell that went up.

Ford says it would be nice to have the show computerized and done to music so that's something they are looking at in the future when time and money allows. Ford's group spends much of the week setting up the tubes and everything needed to put the show on.

The Jaycees are approximately $4,000 short of paying for the cost of the $10,000 show on the eve of the event. To make a donation to help cover the shortfall, simply send a check to the Scottsbluff Jaycees, P.O. Box 271, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, 69363.
