
Special prosecutor David Wilson has named three men from southern panhandle law enforcement agencies to conduct the grand jury investigation in the fatal shooting of a Gering man May 2nd.. William "Curt" Gibb died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound as Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's deputies tried to serve an arrest warran t at the Circle "S" Motel.
Wilson says Kimball Police Chief Doug Provance, Cheyenne County Chief Deputy Sheriff John Jenson and Cheyenne County Deputy Sheriff Fred Wiedeburg will conduct the investigation. Wilson says the court has granted his request to extend the time the grand jury is required to convene to 90 days from the May 7th certification date.
Wilson is also the special prosecutor in the May 21st death of a Scottsbluff County work release inmate. He says an effort is being made to have the same grand jury panel conduct the the review of both May deaths. 54 year old Clyde "Rick" Arcoren of Minatare appeared to have died from a heart attack while a member of a jail crew stacking or moving pallets at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home.
