Published Friday, November 13, 2009 at 02:13 PM

An Ultimate Frisbee Tournament will be held Saturday at the Landers Soccer Complex. The tournament is to benefit the Veterans and Military Family Emergency Relief Organization. Ultimate Frisbee is a 7 on 7 game that is similar to football, the difference being that you simply catch the frisbee in the end zone to score.

Coordinator Dave Wolf says the cost to play is $15 per person, and all you need is a white and dark colored shirt to distinguish teams. Wolf says 20 sponsors have already raised over $2,000 for the veterans organization, including major contributors Knights of Columbus, Council #2681, Regional West Medical Center, Ameristar and WNCC. Modern Woodmen of America has also promised to match another $2,000 after expenses.

Admission Saturday is free and a spaghetti dinner Saturday evening is free for participants or $5 for the public. The dinner is at 7 p.m. at the Gering American Legion Hall at 1425 9th Street . Frisbees and shirts will also be on sale.
