Jury finds Kimball man guilty in son's death

A Kimball County District court jury deliberated less than two hours Wednesday before finding a 23-year-old Kimball man guilty in the December death of his 15-month-old son. Kimball County Attorney Dave Wilson told KNEB News the jury convicted Jeremy Erickson of intentional child abuse resulting in the death of his son Tristen.

Erickson was charged after Kimball County emergency crews responded December 9th to a mobile home in Dix, where they found Tristen unresponsive and in respiratory arrest. He was airlifted to Denver Children's Hospital. Doctors there told authorities that all attempts to revive Tristen were futile.The toddler died shortly after being removed from life support on Dec. 11.

Officers were alerted to the possibility of foul play in the child's death by the child protection team at Denver Children's Hospital. After authorities interviewed both parents, Erickson was arrested December 12th by Kimball County authorities Authorities said the boy's death was the result of injuries he sustained while in his father's care.

Erickson will be sentenced October 21st
