Goshen County Schools considering random drug testing
Published Friday, February 20, 2009 at 09:39 AM

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) _ Goshen County School District 1 is considering a policy requiring random drug testing of all students involved in extracurricular activities.

If approved, the policy would make the district the ninth school district in Wyoming to require student drug testing. The district includes the Torrington, Southeast and Lingle-Ft. Laramie high schools in southeast Wyoming.

Superintendent Ray Schulte said the proposed policy is in response to a district survey about drug and alcohol use, in which high school students reported fairly high numbers of drug and alcohol use.

But some parents are concerned about the rights and privacy of their children.
