Mitchell man asks for Continuance in his arraignment hearing

A Mitchell man who allegedly fired shots at his former girlfriend and a man she was with appeared for arraignment in Scotts Bluff District Court today,Friday Dec 11th. 23 year old Code Barge of Mitchell is charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony, terroristic threats and domestic assault. Barge's Attorney asked for a Continuace, which was granted. The arraignment is now scheduled for Dec 18th. A court document filed by the Scott Bluff County Sheriff's office says the victims indicated Barge had been texting his former girlfriend on her cell phone the night before trying to find her. When he determined they were at the male's rural residence, the arrest affidavit says Barge went to the location with a loaded shotgun and confronted them outside the home. The affidavit says Barge fired a shot into a dog house and then at the victims feet, before fleeing in his car. Barge was arrested in his vehicle by Scottsbluff Police a short time later after the victim's gave a description of the car, including the license plate. A 12 gauge shotgun was seized during the arrest, which occurred around three in the morning.
