A Hemingford woman has been ordered to serve three years probation for stealing money from five different Hemingford Public School funds

District Court Judge Leo Dobrovolny also ordered 49-year-old Jane Kuhn to complete 500 hours of community service for taking the money while employed as the Hemingford school secretary between November, 2007 and April, 2008.

$4,548.24 was taken from the school's FFA account, while the remainder of the missing money is from the High School Track Fund, the Drama Club, the Senior Class Graduation Fund and the Senior Class Cap and Gown Fund.

Kuhn made full restitution in April, presenting a cashier's check to the court in the amount of $7,143.63.

Kuhn apologized to the court for taking the money. She said she knew she had hurt several people, including her family, friends, co-workers and community. Kuhn said her mistake was something she would have to live with the rest of her life.

Judge Dobrovolny told Kuhn that while it was good she had made full restitution it was not payment for her crime and didn't right the wrong. The judge stated Kuhn's actions were a violation of trust.
