Wind energy supporters pack Banner fire hall.
Published Thursday, July 09, 2009 at 09:47 AM
It was a packed Banner County Fire Hall last evening as landowners and others met to learn the latest on wind energy and prospects for projects here in this region. The Banner County Wind Energy Association, which was recently formed to help promote wind energy in the area and help property owners who are leasing their property or developing "cooperation agreements" with wind firms, hosted the meeting. The Association's co-chair Jim Young of rural Kimball says the meeting shows the area is willing to move forward even with some challenges.

Young said he was pleased with the number who were at the meeting and interested in joining the group. Young said there were even people from outside the area attending the meeting, including WNCC officials from Sidney who are planning the development of courses for those people interested in being employed in the wind industry. State Senator Ken Schilz also talked about legislation needed to move wind energy forward in the state.
