Climate Change Legislation poses concern for Nebraska Senator
Published Thursday, November 05, 2009 at 05:20 PM

Climate Change Legislation is out of Committee and on the Senate Floor. Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns explains the need and purpose of the legislation. The bill would set a cap on greenhouse emissions and require emitters to possess allowances for all emissions.

Johanns says the legislation was pushed out of committee without a complete analysis from the EPA, which he says was a complete surprise to him. Johanns says the bill advanced despite bi-partisan opposition from the committee. He says the EPA would need a few more weeks to complete a full economic anyalsis of the proposed legislation.

Given the potentially huge impact this bill would have on every section of our ecomony, Johanns says there is absolutely no justification for ramming this bill through committee.
