CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) _ The high school football game between Saratoga and Burns was postponed last Friday night after a player for the Saratoga team died in a car accident.

The Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Mitchell Birch, a resident of Encampment who played football at Saratoga High School, died in a one-car crash Thursday night. Birch apparently was returning to Encampment after football practice when he lost control of his car on Wyoming 130 about 8 p.m.

Birch, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled. No one else was involved in the crash. The patrol believes Birch may have been texting on his cell phone at the time of the accident.

The football game at Burns was rescheduled for Oct. 13.
