Phillips Auction To Give Local Economy A Big Lift
Published Tuesday, April 01, 2008 at 03:35 PM

The massive Gary Phillips estate auction that will take place this week north of Bridgeport is expected to give the local economy a lift. The week-long auction of 20,000 pieces of farm equipment two miles north of Bridgeport began today (Tuesday). Scotts Bluff County Tourism Director Kevin Howard says it will be difficult finding a motel room in the region over the next week.

Howard believes those attending the auction may still find motels as far away as Kimball, Torrington and Ogallala. Howard says if people have problems finding available rooms, they can call the chamber at 632-2133 for help. Howard says restaurants and fuel sales should also be up over the next week, and he believes the area's attractions will also see more visitors.
