
A Chadron man died in a head on collision of two pickups Monday afternoon ten miles north of Hemingford on U.S. Highway 385 near Dunlap Road. The Nebraska State Patrol reports 36-year-old Akki Bellu died at the scene.
Bellu was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Telovij Peter. Peter was transported to Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance where he was treated and released. Another passenger, 19-year-old Mary Langtier of Chadron, was flown to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff by AirLink for treatment of a broken leg. The driver of the second vehicle, 57-year-old Gary Kraenow of Hemingford, was also injured and transported to BBGH where he was treated and released.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the northbound vehicle drivn by Peter crossed the center line and hit the southbound pickup driven by Kraenow. An autopsy will be conducted on Bellu in Scottsbluff on Tuesday. The accident happened shortly after 1 p.m.
