The Gering city council Monday evening approved a proposal to make the lease agreement with golf course restaurant operators Rich and Michael Klein more favorable for the Kleins. Last year the council agreed to provide a $27,500 subsidy spread over ten months vo help get them through rough patches in the non-golf season during the winter months.
The council approved the recreation committee's recommendation to change the lease agreement so the city would receive only 5% of the first $30,000 in gross sales every month rather than the current 7% of the first $50,000 made.
Wiedeman says the Klein's have made changes in the way they've managed the restaurant operation over the last year so they have a little cushion from the summer months, while adding the new lease agreement would allow the Kleins to be even more successful year round.
