OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Protesters rallied outside a concert organized by musician Conor Oberst to raise money to fight a Fremont law banning hiring or renting to illegal immigrants.

About a dozen supporters of the measure gathered in Omaha's Benson neighborhood Saturday during the Concert for Equality. Some carried American flags and signs bearing words such as "Deport Conor Oberst."

Proceeds from the sold-out concert, featuring Oberst's Bright Eyes, Cursive and other Midwest music acts, were to go to the American Civil Liberties Union of Nebraska, one of two groups who've sued Fremont. The groups say the voter-approved ordinance is discriminatory.

The Fremont City Council voted Tuesday to suspend the ban until the lawsuits are settled. A court ruling Wednesday put parts of that law on hold.
