Food, games and music will be part of the activity as the citizens of Melbeta will celebrate their new city park Saturday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house from noon to 4 p.m. The park, built at a cost of $65,000, has been constructed on donated land from the community and with in-kind and financial contributions from individuals and businesses through a special project fund established through the Oregon Trail Community Foundation. The village will take over maintenance of the park and a long term funding program has been established for additional donations.
The park will have a playground, basketball court, picnic pavilion, and an open space for other activity. An Oregon Trail historical marker has also been placed in the park.
Congressman Adrian Smith, and state senator Leroy Louden will be among the dignitaries who will be present for the ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m.
