Goshen officials look at timeframe on alleged colt abuse
Published Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 08:10 PM

Goshen County officials say they are still investigating how long a halter was on a young colt, leading to an animal abuse charge against the horse's owner. 50 year old Bobby Jack Jenkins is accused of leaving the halter on the colt for so long that it became embedded in the horse's face. Jim Lowry, Goshen County Under Sheriff Jim Lowry says the halter "had not been adjusted for the growth of the colt so they know it had been on for some time", but how long is not known

Jenkins was arrested on a warrant concerning child support and then was charged while in custody with one misdemeanor count abuse/neglect of a horse. Lowry says the other three horses with the colt look to be fine.

The young colt was treated by the Goshen Vet Clinic and has been released to the Wyoming State Livestock Inspector. Jenkins will have his next court appearance in Goshen circuit Court october 6th at 1: 30 p.m.
