The Bayard school district resumed their bus service Monday following the fire last Wednesday morning that destroyed their bus barn and the six buses that were used to take students to and from school.
The district will use borrowed buses over the next two weeks and Superintendent Alan Gross says the district actually had more offers from neighboring school districts than they could use. But he says they were able to accept the generous donations from five districts.... Bridgeport, Kimball, Sidney, Hemingford and Leyton
Gross says the district plans to have their own used buses again when students return after the Christmas break.
Gross says the bus barn will be rebuilt as soon as the district settles its insurance claim. Gross says the school board will likely have a discussion on whether or not to construct a heated building to avoid the use of engine block heaters that caused last week's fire.
