Published Monday, June 22, 2009 at 06:35 PM
Almost a year to the day of a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Rosewood Estates in north Alliance, a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration was held for the recently completed senior citizen housing project.

Rosewood Estates consists of 9 duplexes and a community room built on three acres of vacant lots located on Big Horn Drive and Laramie Avenue in the Lakefield addition of north Alliance.

The project was a cooperative effort between Excel Corporation of Lincoln, the Alliance Housing Authority, the Box Butte Development Corporation, and the City of Alliance.

12 of the 18 units have already been occupied.

The 2.9 million dollar project is for income qualified seniors 55 years of age or older and also family households with at least one person 55 years of age or older. Snow removal, lawn care, water, sewer, and trash removal are included in the monthly rent.

State Senator LeRoy Louden, Congressman Adrian Smith, and Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy attended the grand opening.
