CHADRON, Neb. (AP) _ A Crawford grandfather has been fined $100 and placed on probation for threatening an officer who helped fatally shoot the man's grandson.

Ron Britton had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor terroristic threats.

Police say the 79-year-old Britton threatened Nebraska Game and Parks conservation officer Dan Kling during the trial of former Crawford Police Chief Rick Thompson.

Thompson was acquitted of second-degree assault in the October 2007 shooting death of 16-year-old Jesse Britton. Thompson and Kling shot the teenager at a vacant bar after the boy did not lower his gun.

Dawes County District Judge Brian Silverman also ordered Britton not to have any contact with Kling.
