Severe weather north of Mitchell causes flooding, damage

Heavy rains and high winds caused some minor flooding and some property damage last evening north of Mitchell. Water and debris was reported on the road five miles north of Mitchell when the banks of Dry Spotted CreeK overflowed.

Three inches of rain with marble and pea size hail was reported 14 miles northeast of Scottsbluff. There were also reports of power poles down between Mitchell and Scottsbluff, where winds gusted to fifty miles per hour.

One to one and three-quarter inch hail was reported three and four miles south and west of Sidney and at the Sidney airport.
