
A 37 year old Scottsbluff man will be in Scotts Bluff Court Tuesday to face formal charges following a high speed pursuit early Sunday morning. Cameron Schaub is charged with operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, second offense drunk driving, second offense willful reckless driving and speeding.
The arrest affidavit filed in county court says Schaub was taken into custody after a pursuit in excess of 95 mph. The court document says Trooper Hunter with the Nebraska State Patrol they tried to stop the 2008 GMC Pickup traveling south on 10th Street in Gering for weaving before it turned west on Country Club Road and then south on Five Rocks Road shortly before 12:30 in the morning The pursuit went to the edge of Banner County on Highway 71 before Schaub slowed down and stopped his vehicle. Schaub then fled from his pickup but was arrested as he fell in the east ditch.
Two passengers in the vehicle, 23 year old Matthew Schaub and 34 year old Mark Stover, told authorities they felt they were being held against their will and advised the driver to pull over, but he refused.
