Missing Bayard woman returns; suspect in custody
Published Friday, December 05, 2008 at 10:51 AM

A missing Bayard woman is back home and a man who may have been involved in her nearly four day disappearance is in the Scotts Bluff County jail. 24 year old Kristy Collins, who had been missing since Monday, returned to her mother's residence late Thursday night according to Morrill County Sheriff John Edens. Collins' mother reported her missing early in the week.

Edens also says 51 year old Victor Lujan, who is a suspect in the woman's disappearance, is believed to have been the one who brought Collins back. Lujan was taken into custody later for an outstanding Scotts Bluff County warrant and will likely be charged in Morrill County with a protection order violation. Edens says his office is still investigating whether Collins, who was an acquaintance of Lujan, left willingly or was abducted.

Lujan is in custody on separate Scotts Bluff and Cheyenne County warrants charging him with driving under suspension. He also served time in prison in the late 1990's for a federal drug conspiracy conviction.
