A suspicious pipe was detonated near Hemingford Wednesday afternoon by authorities. The pipe was discovered along the BNSF tracks on the east side of Hemingford.

Law enforcement personal from Box Butte County, The Nebraska State Patrol, Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railroad and the bomb squads from North Platte and Scottsbluff were called to investigate and eventually dispose of the pipe

The device was detonated outside of town for reasons of public safety.
