3 of 4 injured in Highway 26 collision still at RWMC
Published Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 04:58 PM
Three of the four people involved in a head-on collision on Highway 26 near the Union Pacific Railroad overpass between Henry and Morrill are still at Regional West Medical Center.

63 year old Marv Haiman, the driver of the westbound car, and his wife Geri are both listed in serious condition while a passenger in the other car Shiana Frye of Martin South Dakota is in fair condition. The driver, 18 year old Michaela Donovan of Martin South Dakota, is not listed in the hospital directory.

An internet report by an associate of Haiman, the Torrington Middle School principal, indicated Haiman suffered broken ribs and his wife had a broken hip. The Nebraska State Patrol says Frye had two broken ankles and Donovan suffered only minor injuries.

The State Patrol says Haiman's 2009 Honda swerved across the center line into the eastbound lane, colliding with Donovan's 2007 Dodge Durango.

Extracation equipment was used by emergency personnel to help remove victims from the cars, and Air Link transported two of the injured to the hospital.

The accident occurred at 3:20 Saturday afternoon.
