One remains at RWMC from rural Gering accident

One of the four people taken to Regional West Medical Center from an accident southeast of Gering Friday afternoon remains at the hospital Monday. The two vehicles, a van and a pickup, collided at the unmarked intersection of County Road 24 and Country Road T.

39 year old Francisco Chavez, a passenger in the van was released over the weekend, while the driver of the pickup 29 year old Mathew Buckridge is still listed in serious condition. Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Depuity Mark Bliss says the three occupants in the eastbound van .... 45 year old Carmen Tineda, Chavez, the woman's husband, and their two month old granddaughter, were all from Albin, Wyoming. The infant was treated and released for a cut on the head. Tineda, who was cited for failing to yield the right of way, was also treated and released late Friday night..

Bliss says Buckridge was cited for drunk driving, possessing an open container, and refusal to submit to an alcohol test.

The accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. Both vehicles were totaled. The Nebraska State Patrol, the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office, Gering rescue personnel and Valley Ambulance were at the scene.
