A rural Mitchell man has died following a tractor accident. Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's investigator Mike Cotant says 52 year old Jesse Guzman was killed in the accident that was reported to the Communications Center at 12:42 a.m.

Cotant says Guzman was mowing weeds in a pasture three miles east of Mitchell just off the Experiment Farm Road. Guzman was using a mower deck when the tractor hit a steel pipe. Cotant says Guzman shut off the mower, and it appeared when he went to remove the pipe the mower deck, which was not engaged, went over him cutting him severely.

Guzman suffered severe leg injuries and died from loss of blood after the accident.
