Western Nebraska Community College has named a new director for the Alliance Campus.

John Corum has been approved by the college board of governors go replace Dr. Royce Ammon. Dr. Ammon served as the Alliance campus director for five years. He is now a classroom instructor at the college’s Scottsbluff campus.

Corum is no stranger to WNCC. He served as the Alliance Campus’ powerline instructor for two years and helped get the program off the ground when it was first offered to students in 2006.

Corum left the college in August of 2008 to pursue his doctorate in Education Administration at the University of Texas in Austin. He says he will receive his doctorate in May, 2010. Corum also holds a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

Corum’s official title is Associate Dean of the Northern Panhandle. He will begin his new job in January. He says one of his first goals is to reach out to northern panhandle communities.

Corum says the college also needs to concentrate on student success and as far as what the Alliance Campus offers right now, he is particularly proud of the power lineman’s school and the nursing program.

Corum says he and his wife, Donna, and their two children will be moving to Alliance in January.
