A 31 year old Minatare man is listed in serious condition at Regional West Medical Center after his car caught fire Sunday evening a little west of Bayard. James Johnson suffered burns to his left leg and arm as he tried to escape from the burning car.
Morrill County Chief Deputy Sheriff Scott Streeks says Johnson told him he noticed the fire coming from his glove box as he was traveling north on County Road 37 two miles west of Bayard. Streeks said Johnson indicated he got burned as he tried to put the car in park and exit his vehicle.
Johnson told Streeks the car kept moving after he left it, and it ended up burning in the east ditch. Johnson was transported to Regional West Medical Center by Air Link.
