Mitchell Grocery Store Closing April 5th
Published Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 12:12 PM

KNEB News has learned Mitchell's grocery store is closing April 5th. Kenny Decker, who owns the Food Pride store along with his brother Danny, confirmed Wednesday the employees were told about the scheduled closing yesterday (Tuesday). The store has four full-time employees and another fifteen part-time workers.

Decker, who spoke to KNEB News from one of the two other stores the brothers own in Lusk, Wyoming, said "they hated to do it" but the store just wasn't making it financially. Decker says they have been trying to sell the store for three to four months. He says they notified their wholesale supplier Nash Finch and competitor Affiliated Grocers of their intent to close the store, but have not found any buyers. Decker says they would keep the store open longer if a buyer came forward and they needed time to gain financing.

The other store the Deckers own is in Newcastle, Wyoming.
