Dr. Eileen Ely, President at Western Nebraska Community College, has announced that Andrew Lenzen will serve as the Interim Associate Dean of the Southern Panhandle

Lenzen, a math instructor at WNCC who is working on his doctorate in adult and higher education, began his new duties Jan. 4.

Lenzen grew up in Sidney, graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, and returned to the area in 1999. He and his wife Lydia have five children, Sonia, Xina, Jacob, Benjamin & Anna. Sonia attended WNCC; the others currently attend Sidney Public Schools. Lenzen has taught mathematics for WNCC since 2002.

He holds a bachelor of science in math from Doane College, a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, a bachelor of science in secondary math education from Chadron State College, a master of arts in math education from Chadron State College, and an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Wayne State College.

As Interim Associate Dean, Lenzen will help coordinate operations of the Sidney campus and across the southern tier of counties the college serves. He also will assist in the development and maintenance of business-and-industry training programs.

Candidates are still being sought for the Associate Dean position, and it will remain open until filled. Another review of applications will take place later in the semester.
