Soroptomists International of Scotts Bluff County distributed nearly $13,800 to sixteen local organizations and agencies during their annual service awards banquet Thursday at the Scotts Bluff Country Club. Twenty percent of the service money went to DOVES , and another twenty percent was given to the Transitional Living Program administered by the Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska.

The money was raised throughout the year through fund raisers including nut sales at Christmas, the Bits and Beverages Silent Auction in January and the group's Oregon Trail Days Chili Cook Off concession stand.

Laurie Morgheim is President of the local Soroptomists group and Sheron Dinnel is the Service Committee Chairperson.
