Kimball child abuse case continued until August

Jeremy R. Erickson faces a charge of child abuse resulting in the death of his son Tristen. The charge stems from an incident on Dec. 9 in Dix when Kimball County emergency crews responded to a mobile home where they found Tristen unresponsive and in respiratory arrest. He was airlifted to Denver Children’s Hospital. Doctors there told authorities that all attempts to revive Tristen were futile.
The toddler died shortly after being removed from life support on Dec. 11. Authorities said the boy’s death was the result of injuries he sustained while in his father’s care.
Erickson was arrested by Kimball County authorities on Dec. 12 and is the sole suspect in the death of his son, according to authorities.

Officers were alerted to the possibility of foul play in the child’s death by the child protection team at Denver Children’s Hospital. After authorities interviewed Tristen’s parents, Erickson became a “person of interest,” according to the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office.
Erickson remains in custody on a bond of 10 percent of $750,000.
