Former Scottsbluff High School volleyball and girls soccer coach Heidi Huck received special recognition Tuesday night at the school's sports award evening.
Huck, who coached in the system for nine years, and was the head volleyball coach the last six was recognized for her efforts in elevating both the volleyball and girls soccer program at the school. She said she had to tackle the sports differently.
"I had to create a sport from level zero with soccer," Huck said. "With volleyball I had to improve a program that had been flat for many years."
She had success in both, guiding both programs to state tournament appearances during her reign.
Special awards were also presented to Brian and Jane DeBrie and Monty and Cheryl Reisig for their contributions as members of the SHS Booster Club. They were instumental in raising funds for the message board in front of the High School and the video scoreboard at Bearcat Stadium.
