COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- June 25, 2009 -- The top 24 players and head coach in RMAC football history have been selected to help celebrate the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's 100th anniversary in 2009. The RMAC is the fourth oldest conference in the country, and the most historic in the western U.S. The RMAC All-Time Football Team was selected by representatives from the conference's schools that currently participate in the sport of football. The first ever football season in RMAC history was played in the fall of 1909. Former Chadron State running back Danny Woodhead (2004-2007) is the RMAC All-Time Offensive Player. In 2007 Woodhead set an NCAA all divisions record with 7,962 career rushing yards. He was also a two-time winner of the Harlon Hill Award, (2006, 2007) which goes to the top player in NCAA Division II. Woodhead is currently a member of the New York Jets. Kevin Homer, Chadron State's all-time leader in tackles, is the RMAC All-Time Defensive Player. During his career (1995-1998), Homer recorded more than 500 tackles, and was inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame in 2006. Current Chadron State Athletic Director Brad Smith is the RMAC All-Time Coach. During 14 seasons in the RMAC, Smith won 110 games with only 39 losses and guided the Eagles to five conference championships. For the RMAC Centennial Celebration, all-time teams have been selected in 19 sports. The RMAC's Centennial Celebration will take place on July 11, 2009 at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs. For more information, go to www.rmacsports.org.
