Both the Gering High Bulldogs and the Mitchell High Tigers are set for the state football playoffs next week. Pairings for the postseason were released by the Nebraska School Activities Association Saturday morning.

The Gering Bulldogs went into the final weekend of the season with the top power point rating on the western side of the bracket, however they slipped to number two following their win over Scottsbluff and an Aurora victory against previously unbeaten Hastings Adams Central. Aurora is now the top seed, with a power rating of 43.8 compared to Gering's 43.6, and will have a home game against Alliance Friday. Alliance made the playoffs despite a 3-6 record and a 28-7 loss to Sidney to end the regular season.

Gering now is set to host Lexington at 2 p.m. Friday in a rematch of teams that met September 25th in Lexington. Gering blanked the Minutemen 20-0. If Gering gets another win against Lexington they would move into a second round game against either Adams Central or Seward.

Fourth seeded Ogallala and fifth seeded McCook round out the west side of the Class B bracket. Those two teams collided in McCook Friday and the Indians won an overtime contest 10-7.

Mitchell's rematch in Class C1 is a meeting of teams that also met in the first round last year. Broken Bow blanked the visiting Tigers 61-0. Terry Gilliland's crew will try to fair better in a Thursday game this year against the Indians.

Broken Bow is 8-0 on the year. Mitchell enters the playoffs at 4-3. They enter after a tough 22-16 loss at Valentine Friday afternoon. With the win Valentine earned a playoff spot opposite Gordon-Rushville. Chadron is the overall number one seed in Class C1 and the Cardinals will host Boone Central Thursday.

Minatare is also in the six man state playoffs. They also have a first round rematch with Arnold. The Indians will have to venture to Arnold Friday after they hosted and beat them 50-14 Friday.
