A little rain didn't bother the Scottsbluff girls track and field team Thursday at Bearcat Stadium. They ran, jumped and tossed there way to an easy win against McCook and the rest of the field at the B6 District Track and Field Meet.

The defending Class B state champs will get another shot in Omaha next week after scoring 144 points compared to second place McCook with 107.5.

The Bearcats had a big day from senior Hannah Morris. She captured both the 100 and 200 meter dashes along with being the anchor on the 400 meter relay team.

Another senior had a nice day for Scottsbluff. Leeza Henry won the shot put and finished second in the discus. It was also a day for some freshmen to sparkle. Hattie Guzman won the triple jump and Aubree Worden kept herself very busy. She won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and was edged by a nose in the 800. She also was part of the victorious 3200 meter relay team.

The boys race was much closer Thursday as Gering edged Scottsbluff 93-90. The difference for the Bulldogs was a three man sweep in the triple jump. Tyler Grassmick was the winner, followed by Phillip Schmidt and Anthony Starke.

Also for Gering Zach Roper won the 800 meter run and was part of the Dogs victorious 3200 meter relay team. Chris Calvert, Evan Petit and Derreck Donovan were other members of that team.

Scottsbluff had an outstanding day from sprinters Daron Pattinson and Cody Wilson. Pattinson, who announced Wednesday that he will walk on for the Nebraska track program next year, won the 100 and finished second to Wilson in the 200, while Cody was second in the 100. Both were part of the winning 1600 meter rleay team that also featured Trace Marsden and Brock Ingersoll.
